Pitcher Sal Biasi was a bright spot for Penn State during an otherwise disappointing season for the Nittany Lions.
Despite the team finishing 18-37 and missing out on the Big Ten tournament, Biasi was a consistent presence on the mound and was honored for his efforts on Tuesday by the Big Ten.
Biasi was named to the All-Big Ten second team after finishing 5-5 with a 3.48 earned run average in 14 starts.
Biasi also tallied 88 strikeouts on the season, tied for ninth all-time in a single season in Penn State history. While the rest of the pitching staff had an up-and-down 2017, Biasi rarely got hit hard, giving up more than three earned runs in a game just three times all season.
