Penn State baseball’s freshmen play a big part in team’s offense

Uneasy lies the road for an umpire who overturns two calls.

One of those calls brought Rhode Island one run away from tying the game.

But it was the freshman's bats that eventually made the difference in Penn State’s 5-3 win against the Rams on Wednesday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

The first call up for debate came off the bat of senior Greg Guers in the bottom of the first inning. Rhode Island catcher Chase Livingston made an off balance throw to first base that pulled the first baseman off the bag.
