Men’s soccer’s Evan Finney shakes off rust against Wisconsin in first game back

Beads of frigid sweat began to pour into Evan Finney’s eyes, temporarily blinding the Penn State goalkeeper as he struggled to tear off his padded prototype rugby style helmet.

He had just given up the tying goal in the 77th minute to his team’s conference rival, Wisconsin, and he had to make adjustments if he wanted to win his first game back in goal since suffering a blow to the head in his team’s overtime loss to California on Aug. 28.

Fortunately for the senior goalkeeper, his team had his back. As both teams began to ramp up the pressure going into overtime, the Lions started making plays in their opponent’s penalty box, where they colluded to draw a foul.
