Nations #1 Kicker Decommits From Penn State, Will Visit USC This Weekend

#1 overall 2016 kicking prospect Quinn Nordin decommitted from the Penn State Nittany Lions on Wednesday night, reportedly partly due to the program landing three-star kicker Alex Barbir as a contingency plan.

Nordin received an offer from Penn State back in January of 2015, ultimately choosing Penn State over Michigan despite overtures from the Wolverines which included the opportunity to play for the university's lacrosse squad. Nordin even posted a video of him getting off a plane to announce his attentions to commit to the Nittany Lions. More info on Nordin's decommitment inside the Chat Sports iPhone and Android apps.

After picking Penn State, though, Nordin took multiple visits to Michigan along with official visits to Baylor and USC. He appears to have been swayed by the Nittany Lions' inconsistency on the field this year, with the team's decision to sign Barbir and not risk ending the cycle without a kicker in tow likely proving the final straw in his decommitment decision.

Nordin has an official visit scheduled to USC this weekend following a visit to Baylor last weekend. His final decision will be between USC, Baylor and Michigan on National Signing Day.
