Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific Tigers swim team completed their swim-a-thon today, helping to raise over $8,000 for the Adventure Project, a non-profit foundation dedicated to creating sustainable jobs for impoverished individuals.

The day included a viewing of the documentary Poverty Inc. and discussions of the issues surrounding poverty as well as the swim-a-thon. The Tigers took the opportunity to use their swimming abilities to "try and find sustainable ways to end poverty" in the words of Head Coach Peter Richardson.

"[The impoverished] aren't bad people, they just haven't had the same opportunities we've had to succeed and they want to have those," said freshman swimmer Brigid McNally.
