Anthony Townes remembers when his fortunes changed for the better this season.

The 6-foot-6 sophomore forward out of Modesto Christian High suffered a knee injury prior to the start of the season. He had to watch from the bench in the early going and slowly worked his way from being an "energy" player off the bench to a regular starter for the Pacific men's basketball team.

The turning point came in a non-conference game against Rider on Dec. 10 at Stockton Arena. Townes, who played sparingly as a freshman, had a breakout performance with 12 rebounds and 11 points in the Tigers' 73-66 loss.
