Mustangs ‘adopt’ young cancer patient

STOCKTON – The Delta Mustangs did everything they could to make sure Travis Torres-O’Callaghan know he is now part of the team.

The 15-year-old from Lathrop, hung out with the players, threw out the first pitch and watched Delta’s 11-3 win over Modesto with his family from the dugout. He’s a Mustang now, and darn proud of it.

“This was a lot of fun,” Travis said with a smile.

Saturday’s “adoption” was courtesy of Friends of Jaclyn, a charitable organization which pairs young cancer patients with sports teams in their area.

Travis is being treated for a brain tumor, and his mother, Jennifer Torres-O’Callaghan, said he loves baseball and other sports.
