For the first time in four years, the Delta College baseball team is not headed to the state championships.
Santa Rosa, a Big 8 Conference foe of Delta, took the winner-take-all Game 3 of their California Community College Athletic Association NorCal sectional series: 5-0 on Sunday in Santa Rosa.
The Mustangs (36-11), who finished in third in the Big 8 behind the Bear Cubs (36-9) and second-place Sacramento City, won on Saturday to force a decisive game on Sunday. Both teams had six hits, but Delta could never cash in. Shea Sbranti had the Mustangs’ lone multi-hit game, going 2 for 4.
