Jemarl Baker, a 4-star shooting guard from Corona, California, has reportedly asked for his release from the California Golden Bears after signing a letter of intent with the Pac-12 power in December 2015, according to Scout.com's Josh Gershon.

Baker forwarded the following statement to Gershon explaining why he wants to reopen his recruitment:

I committed to Cal as a high school sophomore and signed with the Golden Bears last fall primarily based upon my close relationship with Cuonzo Martin and his ability to develop me not only as a player but also as a person.
