According to a report by the Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch, the Ottawa Senators have fielded a number of calls this offseason from teams expressing interest in defenceman Jared Cowen.
“Senators GM Bryan Murray along with assistants Pierre Dorion and Randy Lee have received a lot of calls from teams interested in Cowen but dealing him wasn’t an option because it’s difficult for any organization to give up on a young defenceman who still has upside potential.”
Maybe teams are calling the Senators. Maybe they’re not.
It would not be the first time the Senators leaked information to a local journalist in hopes that this information would spread like wildfire after it is picked up by other news affiliates or news aggregating websites like The Score.
