Sens' Hammond gets ticket to Binghamton for his birthday

Most youngsters go to McDonald’s to celebrate their birthday.

The Hamburglar is off to the minors.

With Craig Anderson returning to the net for the first time in over two months with a terrific 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders at the Canadian Tire Centre, Andrew Hammond, who turned 29 Saturday, was placed on waivers and, if he clears Sunday he’ll be off to the club’s AHL affiliate in Binghamton.

Once the toast of the town for his heroic 20-1-2 run to lead the Senators to the post-season in 2015, Hammond will have to hope for another miracle before noon Sunday because unless someone is willing to take a chance, it’s quite possible he will finish his season in the minors.
