Senators' Alfredsson will have to wait for Hockey Hall of Fame call

Daniel Alfredsson will have to play the waiting game.

On Monday, the former Ottawa Senators captain was on the Hockey Hall of Fame ballot for the first time, but he didn't get 75% of the vote from the 18-person committee in Toronto to gain entry into the Hall.

Alfredsson, 44, now a senior hockey advisor in the Senators' front office, would have been the first player in the modern day history of the organization to get selected.

Seven people were voted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, including five players.

There is no question Alfredsson has the credentials to be recognized among hockey's greats.
