Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux gets nod from Canada for World Cup

It says something about the status level Claude Giroux has reached that the major hip surgery he had done just last week was not enough to dissuade Team Canada decision makers from selecting him to the World Cup roster.

Giroux, who is currently hobbling around on one crutch, is supposed to be sidelined for up to three months. Camp for the best players this country has starts in September.

Cutting it a little close?

“They asked a couple of questions about it, to see how the rehab is going, and everything is going great,” Giroux, the former Gatineau Olympiques star who now captains the Philadelphia Flyers, told Doni-Brook on Friday night.
