Ottawa Senators' Ryan escapes injury from 'can opener' ... Karlsson shows frustration ... Aikman doesn't care about Cheapseats ... Ovie gets No. 500

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Bobby Ryan was lucky to escape serious injury when he crashed into the end boards at Canadian Tire Centre in the late stages of Saturday's game.

He was fortunate the latest questionable tactic by a Boston Bruin -- this time, miniature defenceman Torey Krug -- didn't leave him in the same condition as Deanna Laing, the Boston Pride forward who suffered a "significant spinal injury" when she went head first into the back wall at the Women's Winter Classic on New Year's Eve.

While it wasn't as obvious as Brad Marchand's submarine attack on Mark Borowiecki last month, Krug did jam his stick between Ryan's legs and turn it, sending the Senators winger into a hard tumble that ended with a face plant into the boards.
