Ottawa Senators GM Pierre Dorion follows in footsteps of his late father

Somewhere, up there in the heavens, the late Pierre Dorion Sr. has just wrapped up a golf game, he’s at his desk working on his lists for next month’s NHL entry draft in Buffalo and he’s having a hard time wiping the smile off his face.

That’s because 44-year-old Pierre Dorion Jr. is indeed a chip off the old block.

It’s the classic story of the son following in the father’s footsteps.

Named the Senators’ general manager last month, Dorion comes from strong family roots. When Dorion Sr. died suddenly in 1994 — a week before the draft — he was the director of player personnel for the Toronto Maple Leafs after several years with the Central Scouting Bureau.
