Murray’s personal skills were his greatest asset

Bryan Murray’s big picture legacy on the National Hockey League is beyond impressive.

If and when he receives his due and is inducted, posthumously, into the Hockey Hall of Fame, it will largely be for his role as a builder, finding a way to push four NHL franchises, including three expansion squads, to the brink of Stanley Cup triumphs.

Yet, if we measure success by what people say about us when we’re gone, Murray’s personal skills served as the signature stamp for what he was all about.

After Murray died of colon cancer Saturday — going public in his call for others to be tested early was a selfless act — the tributes have been endless.
