Andrew Hammond took one hit too many to the head.
First, he was nailed twice in the mask by the Vancouver Canucks in a 3-2 victory Thursday. On Sunday another shot off the head by Zack Smith during practice was enough to send him to the injury list, which means Binghamton goalie Matt O'Connor got his spot as the backup Monday night against the Detroit Red Wings.
The Senators hope the injury to Hammond isn't seriou. But as with any head injury, they aren't sure how long it's going to take to get him back on the ice.
