Hard work helps Pageau end scoring drought

Before the Senators flew out of town for this important three-game trip, Jean-Gabriel Pageau insisted he was unconcerned about his lost scoring touch.

At the time, he had four goals, the same number he had on Nov. 3 last season, when he finished with 19.

“It’s obviously hard when you play against really good players, you want to defend first,” said Pageau, who had his hands full last week as the checking centre for home games against Alex Ovechkin, Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby and Auston Matthews. “I think I’ve just got to keep working, keep working at the little details around the net, be harder, more relentless, just put it in.
