The top goal scorer among NHL rookies this season, Mike Hoffman shrugged when he was overlooked in Calder Trophy voting.
“I wouldn’t say disappointed, those guys had excellent years and should definitely be proud of themselves and deserve to be there,” Hoffman, who had 27 goals as a freshman, said the day after it was announced teammate Mark Stone, Florida defenceman Aaron Ekblad and Calgary speedster Johnny Gaudreau were the Calder finalists. “What do you do? It’s not up to me. I played as hard as I could every game, so at the end of the day it doesn’t lie in my hands.
