Former Sens coach will assist Boudreau in Anaheim

Paul MacLean will be back behind an NHL bench next season.

After being fired by the Senators with an 11-11-5 record on Dec. 8, the former Ottawa coach had his hiring as an assistant by the Anaheim Ducks confirmed Tuesday night.

MacLean, who won the Jack Adams as the NHL’s coach-of-the-year during the lockout shortened season in 2013 when he led the club to the playoffs, will work on Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau’s staff and if the Ducks don’t get off to a good start there’s a possibility of a change there.

It’s the second time MacLean has been to Anaheim.
