Goodbye, Kobe, Duncan, salary sanity and tanking

Before we say hello to a new NBA season, it's time to say our last goodbyes.

Goodbye, Kobe Bryant. He was the most spectacular performer the league had seen since Michael Jordan, period. His last game for the Lakers was so Kobe – 60 points on 50 shots at age 37.

Farewell, Tim Duncan. The Spurs icon deserved a royal send-off, but – true to form – he retired without fanfare. Duncan and Bryant split 10 titles over 20 years, but The Big Fundamental left a foundation in San Antonio.
