Orlando City supporter groups hold vigil for Chapecoense plane crash victims

The march down Church Street was much quieter than their group names suggest and far more subdued than typical trips to a stadium.

The Ruckus met nearby at Broken Cauldron Taproom and Brewery, while Iron Lion Firm gathered at the American Combat Club. Adults, children and dogs – all members of the two independent Orlando City supporter groups – together walked down pavement gritty and reflective after a light drizzle. They passed boarded-up windows, street lamps casting long shadows and a homeless woman, who fell in line behind them.

Her name was Debra Campbell, 49, she said, and she walked not for their cause – she hadn’t heard about the plane crash that killed all but six of the 77 people on board, mostly members of the Brazilian soccer team Chapecoense – but because she lost her son a few months back, drug overdose.
