Oregon State's Jake Dukart trades in football pads for baseball glove

CORVALLIS -- Jake Dukart followed his heart back to the baseball diamond.

After fighting for playing time in Oregon State's crowded quarterback room, Dukart opted to walk away from the football team late last month. The Lake Oswego High School graduate turned in his pads and headed a few blocks west on campus to Goss Stadium, eager to begin the next chapter of his college athletics career.

"I'm having a great time," said Dukart, who has been practicing with the baseball team since Sept. 29. "The guys have been super welcoming and the coaches are helping me get through some early rust since I haven't played baseball in a little bit.
