Coach Liebowitz Announces Retirement

CORVALLIS -- Oregon State swimming head coach Larry Liebowitz has announced his retirement, after 13 years at the helm of the Beavers.

Liebowitz coached seven of OSU’s nine swimming All-Americans and had 47 Pac-12 All-Academic selections. He led OSU to three of its best finishes at the NCAA Championships, including 20th in 2004. His OSU career was highlighted by the individual finishes by Saori Haruguchi, the school’s only NCAA Champion (200-yard butterfly) in 2008, and the runner-up finish by Birte Steven (200-yard breastroke) in 2004. Both represented their respective countries, Haruguchi for Japan and Steven for Germany, in the 2004 Olympics in Athens while current student-athletes at OSU.
