Kalani Sitake understands the anticipation for the 2015 season. Rather than take the summer to recharge, he's been "mentally preparing" in his office.

"I just can't sit at home all week," the new Beavers defensive coordinator said.

Sitake, who is regarded as one of the top young coordinators in the nation, is tasked with building a Beavers' defense that lost nine starters and is shifting to a 3-4 base scheme. It's a big job in the Pac-12, which boasts some of college football's most potent and fast-paced offenses.

With the start of fall camp inching closer, Sitake recently spoke with The Oregonian/OregonLive about his offseason takeaways, the emerging leaders on that side of the ball and how he expects to approach practices in August.
