EUGENE -- Last night's TrackTown Tuesday turned out to be a good show.
Featured guests included University of Oregon distance star Edward Cheserek, UO men's distance coach Andy Powell, British Olympian Andrew Osagie, U.S. record-holder Shannon Rowbury and Prefontaine Classic meet director Tom Jordan.
Among the highlights:
-- Cheserek, who got a prolonged standing ovation from a crowd of about 300, showed a sly sense of humor and a willingness to tweak his coach.
The 17-time NCAA champion mentioned he got a text message from Powell the night before the Boston Marathon.
Powell was entered in Boston, and wanted to remind Cheserek he needed to get in a long run that Monday.
