The Oregon Ducks have turned their mid-distance and distance runners over to Virginia Tech cross country and distance coach Ben Thomas.
Thomas, who has directed the Hokies' distance program for 17 years, is the the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Southeast men's assistant coach of the year in 2018 for both the indoor and outdoor season.
Thomas replaces the husband and wife tandem of Andy and Maurica Powell, who headed the UO men's and women's distance programs respectively.
Thomas' official title will be associate head coach for cross country and track and field.
