DeForest Buckner is headed to San Francisco, and he’s going to join some familiar company.
New 49ers coach Chip Kelly on Thursday used the No. 7 pick in the NFL draft to select Buckner out of Oregon. Buckner’s UO teammate Arik Armstead was a first-round pick of the 49ers in 2015, and their new position coach in San Francisco is former Ducks defensive line coach Jerry Azzinaro.
Buckner became the fifth player from Oregon drafted in the first round over the last four years, and the third who plays in the defensive front seven.
