LAS VEGAS – Cheridan Hawkins became the all-time career leader in strikeouts as the Ducks rallied to beat Florida Atlantic, 6-5, Saturday night at the UNLV Classic. Hawkins retired 10 batters as she passed Jessica Moore with 917 career strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Oregon (15-4) struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Alyssa Gillespie led off with an in-field single. Nikki Udria followed that up by reaching on a fielder’s choice and then advanced to second on a Koral Costa single. Udria stole third and was brought home by Janelle Lindvall.
