Ducks Drop Game Two at Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – Oregon had the tying run on base in the eighth inning but couldn’t get the big hit as Stanford held on to clinch the series with a 4-2 win on Friday night at Sunken Diamond.

How it happened: Stanford (30-23, 14-15 Pac-12) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. The Cardinal used a one-out double and a base hit to put runners on the corners and then scored on a comebacker that David Peterson fumbled before throwing to first for the out. Jonny Locher, who had the Stanford double, scored after looking like he might get hung up between third and home.
