On Sunday the Associated Press Top 25 was released signalling the start of the 2016 season. As is standard procedure the last few years, the Alabama Crimson Tide is at the top. Over the last few seasons the Oregon Ducks have been anywhere from just inside to outside the Top 25 to begin the season. Entering 2016, Oregon is slotted at 24th to begin the year.
Mark Helfrich and Company have already said that they do not even look at polls or rankings. They don’t matter at this point. For fans it can sometimes be a good gauge – at least until someone gets knocked out by an upset.
