EUGENE, Ore. – There were loads of talent on both sides of the net Saturday night in Matthew Knight Arena as the Oregon volleyball team took on a group of all-star alumnae in its final exhibition before the regular season. The group of returning all stars stole the show with a five-set win, 19-25, 25-17, 18-25, 15-12.
All-Americans Sonja Newcombe and Liz Brenner led the offensive charge, combining for 54 kills. Newcombe not only caused havoc on the Duck defense with 32 kills, but she made things difficult on the attackers as well, finishing with seven blocks.
