His at-bat in the 10th inning of a tie game Tuesday at Oregon State ended in a fly out to center field.
Mitchell Tolman could feel the old demons rising up.
The pitch had been hit-able – maybe even hit-out-able, Tolman thought. Instead of depositing it over the Goss Stadium fence for a potential game-winning home run, Tolman got under the pitch and lofted a high fly that the outfielder casually hauled in.
Just a few weeks ago, not coming through in that situation might have led to an angry outburst in the dugout.
