ASPEN, Colo. — Snowboarders give all due respect to gymnastics even as they utter the word with disdain in comparison to their own sport.
Though it may look acrobatic, snowboarding is not that. Amidst all the flipping and spinning, there’s something much closer to the soul of the sport — style.
As the riding has rapidly progressed in recent years, most notably on the men’s side, the balance between the technicality and the part that makes those gnarly tricks look cool got a little out of whack. But over the past few years, snowboarding has seen it balance out.
