Olympic Swimming 2016: Men's 200M Breaststroke Medal Winners, Times and Results

Dmitriy Balandin separated himself from a stellar group with a late push to win the gold medal in two minutes, 7.46 seconds over USA's Josh Prenot and Anton Chupkov of Russia.

Balandin's triumph represented a major upset, as a pair of Japanese swimmers in Ippei Watanabe and Yasuhiro Koseki were expected to compete alongside Prenot and fellow American Kevin Cordes for places on the podium.
