Czechs eliminate USA in hockey at 2018 Winter Olympics

GANGNEUNG, South Korea — The Czech Republic eliminated USA from the men’s Olympic hockey tournament with a dramatic 3-2 win in a shootout.

Petr Koukal, 32 was the only player to score for either team in the 10-player shootout. Americans Chris Bourque, Mark Arcobello, Ryan Donato, Troy Terry and Bobby Butler were stopped in the shootout.

The Czechs now play the Russians in the semifinals.

The Americans had chances to win it in regulation. Brian O’Neill rang a shot off the post with under three minutes left in regulation.

A slashing call to Vojtech Mozik gave the Americans a two-minute power play with 1:20 left in regulation.
