At the Conference USA basketball tournament Friday, two workers held up an American Sports Network banner behind announcers Mike Gleason and Mack McCarthy as they began their broadcast of the women’s semi-final game between Louisiana Tech and Western Kentucky.
That banner will soon be a relic of a brief era of broadcast history.
ASN, a three-year old network that has been the main broadcast outlet for Old Dominion and other C-USA schools, is ceasing operations at the end of the month.
The news was first reported Friday by the industry news website FTV Live and confirmed to The Virginian-Pilot by a source close to network officials.
