NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion rowing kicked off the spring season by defeated George Mason in the 2017 opening regatta on the Lafayette River in Norfolk, Va. The Lady Monarchs won all the races of the day by at least nine seconds or more over the Patriots.
The day started with the first Varsity 4+ boats for a 2,000 meter sprint down the Lafayette River. The Lady Monarchs held the advantage all the way down the river finishing with a time of 8:41.8, a full 30 seconds faster than their competition in the Patriots (9:11.4).
In the second heat of the day, ODU again cruised to victory in the first Varsity 8+ boats.
