ODU Drops 64-63 Heartbreaker to Marshall in C-USA Tournament Quarterfinals

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Old Dominion men’s basketball team (19-12) rallied back from 17-point first half deficit to lead by as many as four, before dropping a 64-63 heartbreaker to Marshall (19-14) in the Quarterfinals of the 2017 Conference USA Tournament on Thursday night at Legacy Arena.

A foul was called on Ahmad Caver with just two seconds remaining in regulation, sending First Team All-Conference USA honoree Jon Elmore, who connected on one of two from the charity stripe, giving Marshall a 64-63 lead. Zoran Talley’s last second three-pointer did not get off in time.

“It’s always difficult when your season ends,” said ODU head coach Jeff Jones.
