Monarchs score nine straight to win their eighth straight in baseball

Former Kellam standout Sam Sinnen allowed one run in eight innings and Kyle Battle hit a three-run home run Friday night for Old Dominion, which remained unbeaten in Conference USA baseball with a 9-1 victory over Texas-San Antonio at Roadrunner Field.

UTSA (10-10, 1-3) took a 1-0 lead on an RBI double in the second. The Monarchs answered with a pair of runs in the third, then rolled from there, scoring three more the fourth and four in the seventh.

Battle walked with the bases loaded in the seventh to finish with four RBIs. Jared Young had four hits and two RBIs and Zach Rutherford (Western Branch) added three hits for the Monarchs (18-4, 4-0), who totaled 15 hits and won their eighth in a row.
