Jared Young had three hits for ODU (36-19, 19-11), which had runners reach third base in the third and fourth innings. The Monarchs used six pitchers, with freshman starter Michael Blanchard (Nansemond River) taking the loss. He allowed four hits and two runs in 3.1 innings.
Despite the defeat, the Monarchs enter this week's C-USA tournament in Biloxi, Miss.
