LORTON, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's golf team fired a 3-under par final round to overtake leader Eastern Kentucky to win the 2016 Patriot Intercollegiate Championship on Monday at Laurel Hill Golf Club.
In a two-team race, EKU led the Monarchs by five strokes heading into the third and final round, but ODU recorded a 3-under round, while Eastern Kentucky shot a 4-over round, giving ODU the team championship.
All five competing Monarchs placed in the top 25 of the 110-person field. Individual runner-up David Langley (-4) led a total of three Monarchs in the top 10, as Antonio Cruz-Conde (E) finished in a tie for sixth and Michael Bakker (+2) tied for ninth.
