Conference USA ready to shake up scheduling in men's basketball

Hoping to boost its chances of landing at-large bids to the NCAA tournament, Conference USA appears ready to try something radical in men’s basketball scheduling.

Under a proposal floated at last week’s league meetings that is likely to be adopted, teams would be re-seeded after the first 14 conference games, and the top five would square off over the final two weeks.

Marshall coach Dan D’Antoni explained the concept in an article in the Huntington (W.Va.) Herald-Dispatch.

“We are going to play 13 games and your travel partner twice....Then they are going to seed the schools.
