OSU 10th after opening session of NCAA Championships

KANSAS CITY, Mo. − It didn’t look promising late in the third period, but Jordan Williams pulled out one of Oklahoma State’s biggest wins of the opening session of the NCAA Wrestling Championships.

Seven Cowboys, including Williams, earned wins in Session 1 of the tournament Thursday afternoon. OSU is in 10th place with 10.0 points, and Penn State leads the pack with 15.5.

Williams, OSU’s 20th-seeded 149-pounder, trailed Iowa’s Caleb Rathjen, 3-2, heading into the third period. After a takedown and a pair of Rathjen escapes, the match was tied at 5 with less 30 seconds remaining.
