“It's unbelievable,” said Tom Jones, who played on the 1976 NCAA title team, Mike Holder's first of eight as the Cowboy coach. “Just validates all the stuff we did. Hopefully we laid a foundation, and all these other great players have kept it going.”

Bratton, who played on Holder's 1995 NCAA title team, began the day as the only OSU golf coach never to produce a championship. But as Bratton drove into Karsten's parking lot Wednesday, the first two people he saw were Lindy Miller and David Edwards. Both played on Holder's 1976 and 1978 title teams; Bratton figures Miller might be the best Cowboy golfer ever, and Edwards was the 1978 NCAA individual champion.
