The 2015 preseason Coaches Poll has been released and Oklahoma State is not in the top 25. This means very little, of course, and is probably actually a benefit to the Pokes.
A perceived slight, however small, is an advantage to a team over being ranked No. 24 or No. 25. Being ranked No. 24 means “hey, we’re ranked!” Being unranked (or No. 28, see below) means “man, we’ve got a chip on our collective shoulder.”
Plus, with the College Football Playoff, none of this actually means anything anyway outside of your perception to the folks on the Playoff committee.
