Oklahoma president David Boren suffers 'minor stroke' at Sooners' spring game

NORMAN -- University of Oklahoma President David Boren suffered what the school said was "a minor stroke" during Saturday's statue unveiling of former football coach Bob Stoops.

Boren, 76, is stepping down as OU's president in June. A former governor and U.S. senator, he has served in the position since 1994. He has also been one of the most influential voices in the Big 12 for three decades.

Near the end of a speech honoring Stoops, Boren experienced "discomfort and dizziness" according to the school and was taken to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Tests revealed he had suffered a stroke.
