NORMAN—Oklahoma might only have two eligible scholarship quarterbacks but they added another preferred walk-on quarterback Friday in Tanner Schafer.
Schafer (6-foot-3, 180 pounds) joins Reece Clark and Connor McGinnis as walk-on quarterbacks for the Sooners.
Schafer is from Canadian, Texas, and also was offered a preferred walk-on spot at Texas Tech.
Sooners' quarterback Baker Mayfield, who walked on at both Texas Tech and Oklahoma, offered Schafer congratulations on Twitter.

With Cody Thomas' decision to leave the football team to pursue baseball and Kyler Murray having to sit out this season after transferring from Texas A&M, freshman Austin Kendall is the only other eligible scholarship quarterback the Sooners have this season other than Mayfield.
