They say where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and right now it would appear that the Oklahoma Sooners plan on debuting an alternate helmet for this Saturday’s Big 12 opener against the Kansas State Wildcats. This OU lid appears to be the cream Rough Rider lid featuring a black stripe.
Another detail fans may have already noticed is the ‘UNITY’ sticker below the Big 12 logo on the back of the helmet. OU players wore this sticker on their classic crimson helmets in the 2020 season opener, but the lettering at that time was white as opposed to black to offset the font from the background color.
