Oklahoma basketball: 'Buddy Mania' spread nationwide after first Sooners-KU game, now it's time for the rematch

NORMAN — When Buddy Hield walked off the floor at Allen Fieldhouse on Jan. 4, things were different for him.

Hield entered the night as the best player on not only Oklahoma's team but in the Big 12. Following his 46-point performance in the Sooners' 109-106 triple-overtime loss to Kansas that night, Hield was suddenly the best player in the country.

“I always talk about playing on Broadway or off Broadway. That game was on Broadway,” ESPN's Seth Greenberg said. “All eyes were on that game. You couldn't take your eyes off that game. What that game did was put every one of Buddy Hield's games after that on Broadway.
